Letters to the editor: Can be mailed or emailed. We reserve the right to edit letters for space. Writers will not be notified if your letter to the editor is used.

Voice In Action Essays: We're looking for your 1500-4000 word essay on how you discovered your Voice in Action. Established writers only, please. Past contributors include Brandon Cesmat.

Our Online Column The Literary Life: Please submit your rants (500-1000 words) on any aspect of the craft of writing or the life of a writer to PrismReview @ulv.edu. See the online column on our website for further details. Use the Prism Review cover sheet and submit your work as .doc attachment.

General Submissions of previously unpublished poetry, prose, reviews, drama, rants, art, photography, and narrative comics are accepted from September 15 - May 15 from writers of all ages, backgrounds and from anywhere in the world via email or snail mail. We just want your best. Be sure to read our Mission Statement.

Guidelines:
Prism Review publishes publishes poetry, prose, translations, reviews, essays, interviews, dramatic writing (Plays and Screenplay scenes), art & photography.

NOTE: We do not accept unsolicited submissions in June, July or August, and we do not accept previously published submissions at any time. Your work will be deleted or shredded without notice if we receive it in the summer months or if it does not follow our submissions guidelines.

We regret that, because our staff is so small, we cannot respond more quickly. Thus, we encourage you to send your work elsewhere while we consider it; however, please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. If we really like it, we reserve the right to publish it second, after it appears in the other publication.

Packaging Your submission:
1. Make sure your full name, email, and the title of the piece are on every page or submission. (Whether it is emailed or printed; if emailed, please use the HEADERS feature to accomplish this task).

2. Include the Prism Review Cover Sheet with your submission. (In a single .doc file, if emailed, or as a .doc attachment if you're emailing .jpg files for art and photography.)

3. If you'd like your mailed submission returned, include a Self-Addressed, Stamped envelope large enough to accommodate your submission.

4. Please send: 5 poems max (10 pages); prose 2,000 words (6-10 double-spaced page max); Book and Chapbook reviews of California Writers, 500 words max. Reviews of California spoken- word events and general readings, 500 words max and within previous 90 days of submission. Multi-media and diverse discourse work is encouraged for our online/companion issue--please send query. Total submission should not exceed 15 pages (please query first for longer submissions of poetry and prose).

5. Please allow 3 months for review of your work. If you do not hear from us after 3 months, please assume we have decided not to publish your work and the notification to you went astray. Please do not query.

PLEASE consider subscribing: A 2 issue subscription & broadside is $12. Sample issues or individual broadsides are $7.00 (and we need your monetary support!)

ONLINE:
Please download and complete the Submission Cover Sheet and then attach it with your submissions in a single .doc file and email it to: PRISMREVIEW@ULV.EDU ( .pdf or .jpg are preferred for art and photography; please resize your submission appropriately). In the subject header please list your first and last name and your genre. If your emailed submission does not include an attached cover sheet and does not have your contact information on each page, we will delete your work.
