EILEEN MALONE

AS IF

A half peeled
half eaten banana
dropped on a path
that has no end
and no name

a tiny dragonfly alights
on a mound of mud
and walks up to the fruit
pauses, as if sniffing
then lifts into flight

infinity
takes a commercial break

a hand reaches down
and picks up the banana.

Bio: Eileen Malone's poetry is published in over 300 literary magazines and anthologies, many of which have earned significant prizes. She lives in the coastal fog of the San Francisco Bay Area.
