There are no records or books about the Genocide in Turkey. It is not taught in schools and is not allowed to be spoken about by the Turkish population because it would be a disrespectful act against the Turkish Government. If they do speak of it, imprisonment is definite and sometimes even death.
Hrant Dink was an Armenian newspaper editor in Istanbul, Turkey. He had a court case against him for disrespecting the "turkishness" of the country in one of his articles. He got many phone and e-mail threats because of this so-called disrespecting "turkishness." In January of 2007, he was assassinated in front of his office. People crowded streets chanting, "We are all Hrant Dink. We are all Armenian."
Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish author. He had a court case against him just for referencing the Genocide in an interview. He never wrote about it in his books; all did was say that one million Armenians were killed in his country. Because of this, he was sentenced to jail time.
