Statement of Purpose
The
Alliance of Writers and Editors is a
student organization, though it is also open to members of the community.
We serve as a writers' circle for those who are interested in
“workshopping” with other writers. Writers of non-creative genres (i.e.
journalists, essayists) should not be discouraged from joining this
writers’ group. We strive to improve the quality of our writing, in
whatever style or for whatever purpose we may choose to write. We are
writers (creators) first, then editors second. Being editors and critics
of our own work is part of developing our skills as writers, which
students of this organization will hopefully exercise for their own and
other club members’ benefits.
Communication as an Asset
As a source of
information, the Alliance of Writers and Editors
uses printed and electronic methods to share and distribute information
that is related to writing between members and the community . Such
information exchanges may include: publishing opportunities, internships,
job openings, or ULV
campus events. We hope to
provide the most effective and up-to-date resources for developing writers
to take their talents to new heights or fields.
