Treasurer Elections for 2007

Candidate Statements

All candidates are listed in alphabetical order.

Jazmyne Lewis:

Hello, my name is Jazmyne Lewis and I am currently a sophomore psychology major who is running for the Psi Chi Treasurer position. The reason why I would like to hold this position is because I have experience and it would allow me the opportunity to enhance my leadership abilities and skills.  This would ultimately make me a stronger leader within the realm of Psychology.  My most recent leadership experience was fulfilled serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Multicultural Club during my senior year of high school.  As the Secretary/Treasurer, my duties included keeping track of the financial records, implementing successful fundraisers, and maintaining a current and consistent log of the decisions made during our weekly meetings.  Based on my past involvement with Psi Chi, I am confident that I would be a great candidate as Treasurer and that this position would challenge me grow and develop my leadership abilities and my interpersonal communication.  Having been a member last year, I would efficiently serve as a medium between the executive board and the members of our organization.

As the Treasurer, I will contribute my time, dedication, heart, loyalty and positive attitude to Psi Chi. As a struggling college student, I have been able to balance my personal financial responsibilities that must be endured for the privilege of a private education. I also know how important it is to make sure that all chapter dues and membership fees are handled with honesty and accuracy. To live and not make a Difference is a Life in Vain, so I hope that I can begin the journey of reaching my goals by you voting for me as your 2007-2008 Psi Chi Treasurer.

Vanessa Ocana:

I believe I would be a great Candidate for treasurer because having to take care of my self financially I am always documenting what I spend and making sure the numbers add up to what my receipts and payments show. In addition I believe I would be a great candidate because I  use to be  involved in a sorority . During that time I held various positions which included secretary treasurer which helped me understand the importance of being organized as well as attending not only the member meetings and events  but the officer meetings as well.

Catherine Zech:

I would like to run for the Officer of Finance/Treasurer position for Psi Chi. I feel I would be qualified for the job because I am a very active student on campus who has demonstrated the skills and ability of a leader. I have achieved becoming an active member of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and the Latino Student Forum all while never neglecting my academic duty to the University of La Verne. All though I have not officially been inducted into Psi Chi I have previously been a member of the club and I plan on being inducted in Spring of 2008. I believe myself to be a reliable, efficient and organized person, all qualities which I feel will help me in fulfilling my duties, if elected as Officer of Finance/Treasurer. I have no doubt that I would prove to be an asset to the organization. I would have no problem with taking care of the cash box, depositing money, collecting dues, writing receipts, keeping up with the budget, coming up with fundraising ideas and helping out with any other duties delegated by the other officers or Dr. Bui. Overall, even if not elected, thank you very much for taking me into consideration as the Officer or Finance/Treasurer.
